Demo Derby Elko Nevada
First off thank you for bringing the Demolition Derby back to Elko. I’m a lifetime resident and remember the derby in Elko from 20 years ago. It was always an action packed family event. I was again very disappointed in the coordination efforts you had this year as well as last year starting with the event timing. The derby was supposed to be started at 5:30 according to the flyer and the first event didn’t even happen until 6:50. The music playing was so loud we couldn’t even hear what the announcer was saying as he was introducing the drivers and during the recovery of the cars after each heat. You had operators on forklifts who obviously didn’t know what they were doing as it took over 20 minutes to get one barrier back into place. 4seasons towing was also an embarrassment to have out there during the recoveries. During the big heat they couldn’t even hook up to a single car until the last car was ready to be hooked up. Getting the cars recovered from each heat shouldn’t take so long. Good thing you had monkeys with shirt cannons and frisbees trying to keep the crowd somewhat entertained during the recoveries. All cars should have entered the arena from one direction and exited from the other. The beer runs were a hit and a good distraction.
