Cycle Sardinia and Corsica - June 3-10, 2018

Sunday, June 3: Arrive in Palau – (Dinner included)
Get oriented, put your bike together or get your bike delivered.
Evening - Optional short, “shake out” ride followed by dinner at Hotel Palau (dinner included).
We will ride to Porto Pollo and back (8 miles, 14 KM)
Monday, June 4: Inland and sea side loop - (45 miles, 70 KM) round trip (Dinner included)
Palau > Bassacutena > Luogosanto > Arachena > Cannigione > Le Saline > Palau
This ride makes a loop through the interior and loops backs to the sea. On this ride, you will see beautiful rock formations, pine forests, sweeping views of the sea. The small port town of Cannigione has a beautiful harbour and bike trails. Click here for map.
Tuesday, June 5: Explore the Maddalenas National Park
- 20 miles (you can add on miles on your own) – (Dinner not included)
In the morning, we will have breakfast at the hotel and take the 20-min. ferry across to the La Maddalenas.The ferry terminal is within five minutes of the hotel. La Maddalenas are a series of seven main islands and numerous small islets. They are famous for the crystal, clear blue waters and granite coast lines. It is a designated national park, the Parco Nazionale Arcipelago di La Maddalena.
We will ride the principal island, La Maddalena and Capera, both of which have many secluded beaches. The ride around the islands is short, 20 miles (but you can add). Bring a small backpack with swimming gear and a towel for exploring the islands after the ride. You can then take the ferry back at your convenience and the rest of the day is free.

Wednesday, June 6: - Palau to Baja Sardinia or Portp Cuervo back to Palau (Dinner included)
On this ride, with one climb out of town, relatively flat toward Baja, we will ride along the sea coast, in between in-land lakes and into a beautiful bay called Baja Sardinia, where we will have lunch and follow the route back. Advanced riders can proceed another 10 miles into Porto Cuervo a famous port where the rich and famous come to play. The ride into Porto Cuervo is hilly and the road is narrow.

Thursday, June 7: Day off - (Dinner not included)
Explore the islands and the coast on your own.
Friday, June 8: Explore Corsica (Bonifaccio) - (Dinner not included) - 29 miles (48 K) - map
After a breakfast, we will ride about 15 miles to the ferry terminal in Santa Teresa Gallura. We will leave our bikes at the terminal with a GGG staff members and take the 50min. ferry ride across to the island of Corsica, part of France. Ride your bicycle back.
Saturday, June 9 - Farmland, forests and beaches - (80 KM - 49 miles) Dinner included
Palau - Vignola de Mare > Rena Majore > San Pasquale
On first part of this undulating and hilly ride, we will ride through valleys and pine forests with views of granite quarries, mountains and small villages. There are several climbs and descents. We will ride to the village of Vignola de Mare, take a coffee and then ride back on the sea and cut back through pine forests and the village of San Pasquale which has sweeping coastal views of Corsica and the north coast.
